On Sunday, March 25, 2012, several community groups came together in the City Heights neighborhood of San Diego to hold a rally to: Stand Up For Trayvon Martin.

The call for the event said: "We must demand an end to the outrageous killings of innocent and unarmed youth in our nation. George Zimmerman wasn’t a cop, but he wanted to be. The 28-year-old man shot and killed the unarmed, 17 year old, Trayvon Martin inside a gated Florida community Feb. 26, 2012. Zimmerman has not yet been charged in the shooting. ... Our community of San Diego must come together and rally support for Trayvon Martin’s parents, who are calling for Zimmerman’s arrest and prosecution. No parent should ever go through this tragedy. Join this rally as we demand justice for Trayvon Martin!"
